Photoshop Help Please!! (plz look!)

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 15, 2009, 4:40 PM

From 's Journal

...

Okay I have never had so many problems with Photoshop until today.
I would REALLY appreciate it if you know Photoshop and read this journal and replied to your best.

The version I'm using is PS 5.0 and I'm on a Windows PC.

:1: (Just for info.: ) When I opened Ps to work on something else today, everything was reset and I don't know why. Anyway, when I opened the drawing I was working on earlier, it wanted to save as something like "namehere_edited1" (I replaced the real name with namehere) and the "Save in Version Set with Original" was checked.

:2: (More Just for info: )So I saved an image I sent myself from my phone. I've done this before (it's the way I did all 4 Silas refs so far with no problem for those).

So I saved it as a PNG and opened it in PS and it came up with an error in which I have no idea what means. It said: "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file."

Then I opened it in MS Paint (worked perfectly fine) and saved it as a different file, also in PNG. I opened it in PS and it worked.

:3: Then I wanted to resize the image size. I went to the resize image window, and it wouldn't let me change the size unlinked (uncheck "Constrain Proportions") unless I checked "Resample Image". Now I forget if that's normal because everything already reset. But I find it a little fishy.)

:4: (The REAL deal: ) Now I'm trying to make a border, the way I always make a border. I selected the whole canvas and went to Select>Modify>... Contract (nor others) wasn't highlighted! It would let me use it... Then I tried something else-- I selected a random selection box that WASN'T the whole canvas and went to Select>Modify, and I COULD choose Contract that time!

I would really like to know what happened to my PS... I know nobody has fiddled around with it. It was working just FINE 2 days ago.

So PLEASE if you have any idea how to fix this let me know. No flaming please!! :3

(BTW, I can't get help from Adobe because the only thing I found that can help me with this is a forum-based thing and I'm guessing no one would answer me anyways.)

Luv y'all!

i think you should try to get a more modernized photoshop. this might not be the case but most of the older versions i made for things below windows XP.

HAha that sucks; version 5 is my favorite. XD I've tried CS versions before, I didn't like them very much (which is weird I know). Anyway getting another Photoshop is just too much money. (Darn... I'm sure this is the last liscence on my disc- the other ones are on computers that died!)
Thanks for the advice, and sorry for hte long reply! XD

you could try 7.0, its a really good version. its about my favorite version over the cs' too. a lot of people even prefer it.
:icondagrblz:
I might just have to try that one. ;P Although I think that's one of the ones I have tried... My brother tried 6.0 once, and I thought it had a nice interface lol.
